Quick Jeera Aloo Fry (Cumin Potato Fry)
This recipe has cumin seeds as one of the main ingredient apart from the potatoes. Cumin seeds is called as jeera in North India. In South India, its called as jeeragam or seeragam in Tamil, Jeerige in Kannada and jilakarra in Telugu. Cumin seeds are a great source of iron. Iron is used to keep our immune system healthy. They are also good for the digestive system. They have a strong and distinctive flavor and used extensively in Indian cooking. This is a simple recipe. It goes really well with curd rice/moru kuzhambu. It also goes well with rotis & poori.
Quick Jeera Aloo Fry (Cumin Potato Fry) Recipe

For this you will need
3 Potatotes
2 tsp Cumin seeds (jeera)
A pinch of Asafoetida
2 tsp Red chilli powder
1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
Salt to taste
Method of preparation
Boil the potatoes in a pressure cooker.
Remove the skin of the potatoes and chop the potatoes into cubes.
In a pan, heat about 1 tbsp oil.
Add the cumin seeds and asafoetida. Fry till the cumin seeds turn brown.
Now add the potatoes along with turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt.
Fry till the potatoes get coated with the masala.
Serve as a side-dish for rice or with poori or rotis.
